Spectacle Photo Wins Big at the FPP Awards
This year at the Florida Professional Photographers (FPP) Annual Convention, I was honored to take home multiple recognitions that celebrate not just the art of photography, but the stories and lives behind every image.
The FPP has been shaping this industry since 1933, building a community of artists, educators, and innovators long before any of us picked up a digital camera. To walk across that stage, in a room steeped in that kind of history, wasn’t just an honor — it was a reminder that we’re part of something bigger. Something built by those who believed in the power of photography to change lives.
🏆 The Awards
- 10 Merits Awarded – Every image entered received a merit.
- 5 Excellence Awards – Recognizing the highest quality submissions.
- First Place – Portrait of a Child
- First Place – Portrait of a Woman
- Judge’s Choice Award
- The Becker Award – One of the highest honors at FPP, established in 1982 to recognize the most creative image in competition.
- ASP State Elite Award – Presented by Sandra Pearce on behalf of the American Society of Photographers; this award also qualifies the image for the ASP Best of the Best show.
- #2 Photographer of the Year – State of Florida
Each of these awards carries a story: from the technical challenge behind the lens, to the emotion in front of it, to the collaboration that made it possible. These awards aren’t just plaques on a wall — they’re proof of what’s possible when creativity, dedication, and trust come together.
Why It Matters
Awards like these validate the standards we hold at Spectacle Photo. They’re not only a personal achievement but a promise: when you step in front of my lens, you’re stepping into an environment built for excellence, authenticity, and artistry.
Whether I’m photographing a musician’s portrait, a corporate leader, or a family milestone, my goal remains the same: to create imagery that makes you feel something long after the shutter clicks.
Gratitude
I am deeply thankful to my peers, mentors, clients, and family who inspire and support me every step of the way. These awards are as much theirs as they are mine. I also want to recognize the incredible community of photographers at our local Professional Photographers of Central Florida (PPCF) guild, who took home Best in Show, service awards, and more. We didn’t just compete. We represented.
Looking Ahead
These awards are not the finish line — they’re a mile marker. The real work begins when we reach back and lift others up, when we invest in the next generation of photographers, and when we keep building a craft that is not only seen but felt.
We are more than photographers.
We are the craftsmen of legacy.
We don’t just take pictures.
We document life.
